80 years of WSiP

Wydawnictwa Szkolne i Pedagogiczne S.A. (WSiP) is the oldest Polish educational publishing house and one of the most recognisable companies operating in the market of textbooks and educational tools for schools in Poland, since 2024 the part of Infinitas Learning Group.

The story began on 9 April 1945, when the then Ministry of Education established the State School Publishing Works (PZWS) by decree.

And work began immediately – although the Second World War was still underway – with the publication of the first textbook, Marian Falski’s Elementary for Rural Schools. In the first year of operation, a total of more than 1,400,000 textbooks were produced. Since 1974, the company has been operating under its current name – Wydawnictwa Szkolne i Pedagogiczne (WSiP).

Today, the basis of the offer consists of traditional and digital products for all levels of education – from pre-school education, through primary schools, secondary schools, technical schools to trade schools.

WSiP also runs the Centre for the Development of Educational Competences (ORKE), which supports over 200 professional trainings for teachers and headmasters of schools and educational institutions.

The company is developing an innovative learning platform – EDURANGA. The great popularity and potential of the new solution can best be seen in the numbers: 42,952 assignments in the test and midterm generator database, 1,634,619 files downloaded by teachers in the new school year, 88,401 tests generated for students in 10 subjects and 19,442 teacher materials for all educational stages.

Confirmation of WSiP development path is the launch of a new logo done just before the 80th Company anniversary. The concept for the new visual identity refers to the two pillars of the WSiP offer – traditional textbooks and digital casing – and symbolises their intertwining.

Jerzy Garlicki, CEO of WSiP summarizes of the Company historical journey in the following way:

– In recent years we have really done a lot to meet the expectations of principals, teachers and students. As the survey results show, 99.7 per cent of teachers and over 90 per cent of students declared their familiarity with the WSiP brand. A new offer for primary schools tailored to the needs of customers, textbooks for new subjects, as well as the launch of an innovative educational platform – EDURANGA, are just some examples of our successfully completed activities. But without the commitment of WSiP employees, there would be no successes. Neither in the past nor now. Therefore we continuously strive to take care of our employees, their development and working conditions. This has been recognised and since 2023 we have been among the elite group of the Best Employers in Poland ranked by FORBES magazine.”
