Carl Verhoest

Carl Verhoest is Chief Technology Officer at Infinitas Learning, where he is responsible for shaping the group’s technology strategy and positioning Infinitas as a scalable, platform-driven education technology company. With over 30 years of experience in software engineering, digital product development, and technology leadership, Carl brings deep technical expertise combined with a strong business and execution mindset.

At Infinitas Learning, Carl supports the group’s digital transformation by providing scalable, reliable technology solutions across the organization. His focus is on building robust, cloud-based platforms, converging fragmented technology landscapes into coherent architectures, and ensuring technology enables sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and high-quality learning outcomes. As a member of the executive committee, he works closely with business and product leadership to translate strategic intent into well-founded technical solutions.

Previously, Carl served as Head of Engineering at Infinitas Learning, where he scaled a distributed engineering organization to more than 130 engineers across Europe. In parallel, he established a strong engineering culture centered on servant leadership, continuous learning, and accountability—while maintaining delivery performance and platform stability during periods of change.

Earlier in his career, Carl played a key role in embedding digital strategy and blended learning solutions at Plantyn, helping transform traditional education offerings into digitally enabled learning experiences.

Carl is also an entrepreneur at heart. He founded and built his own education technology company, creating scalable platforms and digital infrastructure adopted across both the Dutch and Belgian education markets. Operating in multiple regulatory and institutional contexts, these solutions supported large-scale identity, content distribution, and learning workflows.

He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Delft University of Technology. Carl believes technology delivers its greatest value when treated as a strategic capability rather than a cost center, and when engineering teams are empowered to combine craftsmanship with business impact.

Outside of his professional life, Carl enjoys aviation, sailing, skiing, and working with horses. His personal motto reflects his leadership style: work should be both serious in purpose and enjoyable in practice.
